What is a WordPress IDX plugin?
A WordPress IDX plugin connects your real estate website to MLS listing data so visitors can search homes on your site and leads come to you. Old-school plugins rely on shortcodes, iframes or hand-built pages. IDX Bloom installs once and places search, listings and lead forms on the right pages by itself.

How does an IDX plugin work with WordPress?
IDX is the MLS arrangement that lets a participating agent or brokerage display listings on their own site. A WordPress IDX plugin is the piece that fetches the listing data, draws the search and the listing pages, and sends leads to you. You still need to be an authorized MLS participant, and the listing data arrives through a licensed feed.
The plugins differ in how much work they leave to you. Some need a shortcode on every page, an iframe or a separate subdomain, and search pages built by hand. IDX Bloom is built around the opposite idea: install once and let the plugin decide where things go.
Old-school IDX versus IDX Bloom, side by side
| Old-school IDX | IDX Bloom | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Paste shortcodes, embed widgets, build search pages by hand | Install once. It reads your pages and plants itself |
| Where listings go | Wherever you remembered to put a shortcode | Matched to what each page is about, at render time |
| Search | A wall of filter boxes | Plain words, in English and Spanish |
| Pages Google can read | Often an iframe or a separate subdomain | Real server-rendered pages with structured data |
| Missing pages | You write them, one building at a time | It grows building and neighborhood pages when data supports them |
| Leads | A contact form and an email | A lead form on every planted block, sent to your CRM with page context |
| Turning it off | Shortcodes and hand-built pages stay behind | Nothing is written into your pages, so your site returns as it was |
This describes common patterns, not any one product. Check what your current plugin actually does.
Setup steps for IDX Bloom on WordPress
- Confirm MLS participation. You or your brokerage must be an authorized MLS participant.
- Join the waitlist or start the free pilot. No card is needed.
- Install the plugin from your WordPress dashboard, or have a developer do it in minutes. No theme change and no rebuild.
- We connect the data feed. Your domain is authorized through our licensed data partner before any listing appears.
- Let it read your site. It works out which pages are about an area, a building, a price range or a topic.
- Review what it planted and what it proposes to grow, then approve.
Pilots are onboarding now. Listing data is not live yet, so nothing in steps four to six is running on this site today.
What should you check before choosing one?
- MLS eligibility. Does the plugin make clear who must be a participant?
- Attribution and disclaimers. Are they on every listing card?
- Crawlable pages. Are listings real text on your domain or hidden in an iframe?
- Theme fit. Does it work with your current theme without a rebuild?
- Language. Does search and every page work in Spanish as well as English?
- Lead handling. Do leads reach your CRM with enough context to follow up?
